Parking

Parking in Rotterdam is allowed on most of the streets, but you’ll have to pay. At least, when you park your car in city centre. You can only park for free between 23:00 hrs and 6:00 hrs and in some streets between 18:00 hrs and 6:00 hrs. In most cases, you will need a special card called Chipknip (which is a prepaid cash card) to park your car on the streets and pay at the machine, but some of the machines accept the major credit cards as well. None of them accept cash however. You can recognise the machines that accept credit cards by a big credit card sign above the machine.

It’s much easier to park your car in a car park (parking) signaled by a white ‘P’ on a blue sign. There are many car parks in city centre and electronic signs at the streets show the number of free spots in each garage. In all car parks you can use cash to pay at a machine, when you return to your car.  Most car parks accept credit cards as well.
